My 7 month old son is a wreck and the next many many years of his life will definitely be interesting. Not quite looking forward to it. His special formula alone is going to cost roughly $140 a week. Even after he finishes up needing formula, what the heck do we feed the kid?
On a good note, I think we figured out where his incessant itching and horrible skin rashes are coming from 😀
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
Hope the turkey is moist, the ham is flavorful and the fixins are delish! Enjoy family, friends and of course some game time over the long weekend 😀
I used to give the “Lady” chocolate covered strawberries every Valentine’s Day and of course she loved them. This year I thought to myself, why spend $40 on a dozen chocolate covered strawberries when it could not possibly be that difficult to make? Well I went ahead and made the attempt. For roughly $40 I bought myself a double boiler, 2 pounds of fresh strawberries, 20 oz of Ghirardelli gourmet semi sweet chocolate and a bag of pretzels (in case I had leftover chocolate). Lo and behold, this is what the final score was:
Three and a half dozen chocolate strawberries and quite a few chocolate covered pretzels. They tasted every bit as good as the candy store bought ones. I actually surprised myself. Not only that but now I have a double boiler for future food projects and more than 3 times the amount of chocolate covered strawberries as I would have gotten if I bought them pre-made!
I finally managed to take a minute to do something else besides work and house chores! That in itself is amazing but I actually was able to go and enjoy the weather for a little bit. I went hunting for morels for the first time this season. Weather hasn’t been ideal lately but it seems that there are some that are growing. Unfortunately the ones that I found are tiny. All of them were about thumb sized. I only found enough to make a small snack but I’m hoping that I’ll be able to sneak out again later this week and get some decent sized ones. Well wish me luck!
