My Game Collection

Slowly but surely I shall update this page with my many pieces of video game memorabilia. Perhaps I shall add a photo or 2 in the process (^.-)

This is not a list of what I used to own, this is what is currently in my place of residence. Most of them are in boxes with instructions and all but there are a few loose cartridges in the lot.

[ ] Means I don’t currently own the system but needed to categorize a game in some fashion

    WOW!!!
I must say thats a HUGE list!
U really own all these titles? Where do you keep em all?
I guess you never get bored.
Do you still play any of the old gen games?

  2. Gil
    February 12, 2007 at 5:17 am

Most of these games I have retired into plastic tubs. Now and again I rummage through the games to reminisce. But yes, these are the games that I actually own and no I don’t often play my old gen games… It’s more of a hobby to collect my childhood. ^.-

    February 12, 2007 at 3:47 pm

    Very nice collection there.

I’m especially jealous of Suikoden II 😛

  4. Gil
    February 12, 2007 at 5:09 pm

Thank you! It was a tough one to get a hold of. Still is I think.

  5. Aaron
    February 14, 2007 at 3:38 pm

    Yeah, they’re rare and expensive.

I was able to get my best friend a copy for $20 a few years ago. That’s something like 15 USD.

    Lucky her.

    February 14, 2007 at 8:36 pm

    NICE!

  7. February 16, 2007 at 5:16 am

My wife’s still got her first generation 2600. Cherry condition.

When Fedco stores were going of business here in CA, they were selling compact version of the 2600 with 20+ games for $39. We still have that as well. Ever hear of the Arcadia/Starcade system? Odd but very cool.

Nice collection. I should go through mine and post them.

  8. Gil
    February 16, 2007 at 2:38 pm

Good to know someone has a Cherry condition 2600 ^.^ Hard to find these days.

Also I have heard of the Arcadia system but have never had the pleasure of seeing or trying out the system in person ;( Perhaps someday I’ll be able to.

And yes you should post your collection. It’s a great way to keep track of your items and be able to access it anywhere. Also it’s great to see the collections of other game fans. 🙂

    February 21, 2007 at 2:17 am

Not quite a collection without Battletoads (just kidding)! Anyways, nice collection! It looks like ya like Castlevania a whole bunch so you might want to check the Xbox Live Market Place soon, Castlevania is going to be downloadable in a week or two.

    February 21, 2007 at 2:35 pm

Yes I’ve been a Castlevania from the start. Unfortunately I don’t have the NES or SNES versions (aside from the VC Super Castlevania IV).
Castlevania for the XBox Live marketplace would be great but I haven’t subscribed to that yet. Don’t know if I’m ready to jump on board with it.

hey would you be interested in selling your turbo grafx CD attachment or know someone who has one to sell?

  12. Gil
    May 14, 2007 at 4:58 am

Since I’m more of a collector now than a gamer, I couldn’t part with it. Sorry. I only know of one other person who has one and I can check but he’s pretty much in the same boat as I’m in.

  13. June 21, 2007 at 2:38 pm

Nice collection! My brother has a boatload of systems and games, but I only have a DS and GC.

  14. sultan
    September 14, 2007 at 4:13 pm

I wouldn’t count virtual console games as games you own. Buy an actual Genesis dude, it’s only the best console every released, well except for maybe the Dreamcast.

As to what someone said about Castlevania on the 360, it’s awful, 2d games will never play well on M$ crap console, not without a proper D-Pad, same problem that VF5 is going to have on the console.

  15. Gil
    September 17, 2007 at 1:48 pm

Sultan, I guess it would really depend on what the intent on listing the game is. If I were only listing games that I have in physical form, then you would be right in saying that I shouldn’t count VC games in my list. My intent for this list is to showcase the games I own and keep track of them from anywhere. I legitimately purchased the game code (via the VC) so it should be in my list as owned games. As for my emulated games, no those won’t be listed ^.-

Also I do plan to purchase a sega genesis again someday when I find the one that I want. I’m still searching for the generation one genesis bundled with Altered Beast. Not only that but it has to be complete in box with instructions. I’m pretty picky when it comes to purchasing old systems.

Finally in closing, I believe the SNES to be the best console ever released. Genesis was way up there but the SNES will never be beat. There’s more entertainment in that box than any other console that I have ever owned.

  16. Curious Me
    September 19, 2007 at 2:51 am

Wow! Quite an impressive collection indeed. Maybe your other profession could be video game connoisseur. If you had to take only one of the systems .. which one would it be?

  17. Gil
    September 20, 2007 at 1:29 pm

I guess with my current collection, I’d have to say the PS3 because of the backwards compatibility and the games that I have accumulated for it (including PS2 & PSone).

If I were able to select one of my systems and get the entire game library for it, I’d probably choose the SNES. There’s something about old school gaming that I truly miss. Current generation gaming just seems too serious. Perhaps it’s just my age.

Long live classic gaming! Oh the days when all you were was a yellow square and nobody cared. And your greatest foe was a big yellow duck- er dragon! Yes, my first 2600 still sits proudly among my modern systems. 🙂

Thanks guys. It’s taken a long time and a decent amount of cash to build this collection. Collecting more items has definitely slowed down but I don’t think I’ll ever stop 🙂

Wow! I am a late-comer to this post, but I am seriously impressed! I thought we had a lot at our house (five systems) but you totally kicked our asses! Nice collection!

    February 26, 2009 at 8:48 pm

Thanks! I’m pretty proud of my collection but there are so many other collections out there that I am envious of. Mine almost feels small compared to some I have seen 😦

Damn can I come over? lol thats like a gamers heaven 😀

  26. Daniel Allison
    December 15, 2009 at 7:47 am

That’s really impressive. Absolutely loads of classic games there. I think the post above me describing it as “gamers heaven” is spot on.

  27. Gil
    December 17, 2009 at 4:06 am

It CAN be a gamers heaven… when I actually have the time to enjoy it. Seems like there isn’t much of that anymore. Too many other responsibilities.

  28. Badgürl
    December 22, 2009 at 8:59 pm

I know what you mean. With school and work, the last 2 weeks is the most I have been online. So, someday we may get a game in together 🙂
I don’t play xbox anymore cause, well I need to get a new one. I had on of the orignals and got RoD twice, said f-it lol. But I have been thinking about getting the mw2 edition, simply cause of the hdd and the nice paint lol. Kind of funny to. Yesterday was cleaning out my closet and found a wireless 360 that I forgot to sell :p

    • Gil
      December 22, 2009 at 10:50 pm

Yes that MW2 special edition does look pretty sweet. I’d consider getting one if I didn’t already have my elite.

    December 22, 2009 at 9:03 pm

oh btw, I dont see crackdown in your 360collection….didnt like it? 😦
I loved that game, and played it co op with a friend so much that I had to get a new copy lol. same with army of two and gears of war…love co op games. but i rarely ever used my mic. cause well, guys are really mean 😦 no offense..but anytime i played and talked, i would get team killed, kicked from rooms, etc etc, with guys yelling ”chicks cant play!” which i find to be BS, cause some of the best gamers in the world are female…hell look at the VGC’s :p

    • Gil
      December 22, 2009 at 10:56 pm

Honestly I have never played it. It did pique my interest at one point but I almost felt like it was trying to capitalize on what GTA built.

I do not take offense. Online gaming can be pretty hit or miss… more often miss than anything 😦
I honestly don’t do much of it unless it’s with friends/family. I agree with you that there are many talented female gamers that can knock the socks off of many guy gamers. It’s just that (you have to admit) that proportionally there are more guys that play games than girls… so odds are not in your favor when it comes to online gaming. You will primarily run into boys online… and by boys I mean adolescent boys who don’t know how to game courteously… so I will have to apologize for them ;D

  30. January 20, 2010 at 8:21 pm

      Thank you very much 😀

  31. January 22, 2010 at 8:44 am

Ok, now I feel like a complete amateur 🙂

Did you actually play every game through?

    • Gil
      January 22, 2010 at 2:42 pm

      Absolutely… not 😦
I’ll be working on this for the rest of my living days.

Many games don’t really have a definitive ending but if you’ll notice, there are some games that have an asterisk next to them. Those I have completed to the end. I have a -to complete- page. Those I plan to at least try and finish. The rest will probably fall by the wayside 😦

  32. February 12, 2010 at 9:01 pm

wow, just wow! (sorry for the late reply!) you have a very awesome collection, mine seems so small compared to you! glad my girlfriend collects games too so when we’ll be living together we need a special game-only room! 😛

  33. July 31, 2010 at 11:21 am

    pretty beast collection!!!

how much do u think its all worth?

    • Gil
      August 1, 2010 at 2:13 am

I haven’t the slightest idea. I guess I never thought about it cause I never plan to get rid of it. Sad to think that someday I’ll pass away and all of it will probably be tossed in the garbage.

Thanks! I’ve always loved the TurboGrafx even though it overall wasn’t the greatest system. I loved Keith’s courage that the system came with and Bonk’s Adventure was pretty awesome also. Ahh I just think it came too late and Nintendo was the gaming giant at the time. Tough to compete with Nintendo in it’s hay day.

Mighty impressive! Must have cost loads!

I’d imagine your collection would sell for a pretty staggering sum in the future.

Wow… AWESOME collection! Man, you brought me back with that Atari 2600. Many hours lost during the early 80s when that came out. Only thing you’re missing: Colecovision.

Thanks everyone! As you can imagine this has been over 2 decades of collecting. There are very few games that I have ever traded in. Most being the Sega Genesis games I had because, well I traded in my Sega Genesis. No point in having the games around. I still regret it but perhaps someday I’ll get a replacement. We shall see. Hope everyone is having a great time gaming. I’ll be jumping on sometime in the middle of the night as usual ;D
